Rhodes lies between Crete and the near East in the Aegean ocean and is famous as the island of sun, sea and sand. It is the third largest Greek island and, officially, the sunniest place in the Europe.

Rhodes is the biggest of the Dodecanese islands. Named the sun island or island of light there are hardly any days when the sun doesn't shine. A subtropical climate and over 3000 hours of sun per year!

Rhodes is one of the most popular holiday islands in Greece and even the Greeks themselves come to Rhodes for a holiday from the mainland.

Rhodes city is among the finest, not only in Greece but in the whole of the Mediterranean and combines the cosmopolitan character of a contemporary city with the picturesque of the medieval town, which gives the impression of having been untouched by the passage of time. Rhodes castle, the light show and attractive harbour are all worth seeing.

The modern city of Rhodes is one of the biggest municipalities in the Greek islands, with about sixty thousand permanent residents. It is the financial and cultural centre of the southeastern Aegean.

The city offers a wide variety of entertainment (night-life, sports, cultural events, and day trips to Lindos and the neighboring islands of Karpathos, Kalymnos, Kos, and Simi along with Turkish coast day trips.

Faliraki is the most popular holiday resorts on the island with a vast golden beach of blue waters. The night life at Faliraki offers a great variety of choices from one of the many little tavernas along the beac as well as bars and discos.

Ixia is on the other side of the Island with a pebble beach and geat for windsurfing.

Lindos is the hottest part of the Island with sheltered coves and great snorkelling. You can also visit the old ruins here.

The healing baths of Kallithea are on the Eastern side of the island.

On the West side of the island there are several picturesque villages. If you like ancient history the "Pompey of Greece", Kamiros, is definitely a place to go. The monastery of Filerimo is also a place worth a visit.

Sianna is often considered the most picturesque village.

The Valley of Butterflies (Petaludes) is full of butterflies and is very pretty
