Portugal, Algarve Property - Estoi Estói is ahistorical village hidden in an Algarve. Small and rich location that sits a few kilometres from Faro and is home to Milreu Roman Ruins with approximately 12,000 visitors a year. The luxuriously decorated houses and villas being built with tiles and marble can still be seen today. Estoi is a typically Algarvean village in the area of Loulé. Paderne and Salir are to the north west, the ancient settlements with vestiges of their Moorish past. Each has castle ruins and the neighbouring Cerro dos Negros has have lovely views. Barranco do Velho is the gateway to the remote, wholly undeveloped northeast section of the Algarve. Once you are up on the plateau in the vicinity of Cachopo and Martilongo is a wonderful wilderness of rounded hills rolls on and on eastwards to the quiet banks of the Guadiana River. Alcoutim has a medieval fortress ruins, and other forgotten backwater villages are waiting to be rediscovered.
